Platte County School District celebrated a milestone, with Phase 1 of the High School rebuild opening for the spring semester. A large crowd of students, staff, project partners and community members gathered for the ceremonial opening and tours of the new facility. Students will utilize a new cafeteria/commons space, two levels of classrooms and labs, a state-of-the-art weight room, beautiful fieldhouse, and other exciting features. The 175,000 SF addition took approximately 1.5 years and also included sports field and parking improvements.
Together with Platte County School District and Incite Design Studio, Newkirk Novak Construction Partners celebrated the groundbreaking for the first phase of the Platte County High School rebuild. Phase 1 of the rebuild involves relocation of the baseball field to make room for a classroom, cafeteria and athletic addition. The existing baseball staduim provided the perfect location for the ceremony after the Pirates played their last home game on the field. Project completion is schedule for spring of 2023.
Progress continues at the Wyandotte County Juvenile Justice Center in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. Interior finish construction is nearing completion, with courtroom millwork, paint, flooring and security electronics currently underway. Exterior site concrete is continuing around the building and the interior courtyard is complete.
After a multi-step process, Newkirk Novak has been selected Construction Manager At-Risk for Excelsior Springs School District's 2020 bond program. Voters will head to the polls in April to decide on the $23.5 million dollar program, which includes a new elementary school and other district-wide improvements.
Progress continues at Charlotte Street Foundation. Installation of the storm water detention system occured last week. This large system captures and collects storm water then slowly releases it to the city's infrastructure. Inside, metal framing continues and spaces are beginning to take shape.
Friday we held our first annual Battle of the Bowls chili cook-off and Halloween party. Congratulations to Brandon Bell for winning the coveted Golden Bowl trophy! We had lots of creative costumes, including several versions of our very own John Novak. With kids running around, pumpkins to decorate and more food than any of us needed, it was a ton of fun.
The exterior of the Wyandotte County Juvenile Justice Center is nearing completion. Once the glazing and metal panel installation is finished, the building will be heated in time for casework to arrive.
Demolition continues at Charlotte Street Foundation! A portion of a building on the site has been torn down to make more space for parking. This collage shows a progress comparison after one day and one week of work. The remaining structure will become finished space for creating art.
The State Line North Office Building is moving right along towards completion! Last week the staff at Elite Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy joined us on the job site for a walkthrough of their future space. Naturally, we had to provide an opportunity show some strength and test out the new hanging bar. We're excited to continue making progress and get them moved in!

As a part of that work we are building a 4,600 square-foot addition with four classrooms at John Nowlin Elementary School. We began work on this project at the end of March this year and are expecting to finish by early August in order to avoid disruption to students during the school year.

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County/ Kansas City, Kansas held a ceremonial groundbreaking today to commemorate the start of construction on the Wyandotte County Juvenile Justice Center, which will be located in the current parking lot behind the Court Services Building on North Seventh Street in Kansas City, Kansas.
Newkirk Novak Construction Partners proudly announces the groundbreaking of the new Tommy's Express Car Wash, located in Lawrence, Kansas at the intersection of Sixth Street and Monterey. Franchise owner/operator Austin Davis became involved with Tommy's Express a little over two years ago and decided to open up his own location after working for many years in the industry.
